Canon has scheduled an event in Hollywood on November 3rd to make some big announcements. According to my sources, Canon is about to announce two new Video Cameras and the new 5D Mark II in November.
The Video cameras will be a EF Mount version, in the price range of the Panasonic AF100 and a more professional PL mount camera, in the region of the Sony F3. Canon did some test shooting in the Mojave dessert and LA, to gather material for the presentation on November 3th. The 5D markIII was also spoted in the wild and will be announced next month.
Philip Bloom says, the video cameras are going to use the tried and tested 4:2:2 XF codec, for in camera recording – but my source was not able to conform this. Albeit it´s very likely.
Anyway. November 3th will be a very exiting day, since RED also comes out with the – long awaited – final specs of Scarlet and a delivery date. The Scarlet should also pop up with a “buy now” button at the RED shop on that day.
Stay tuned and watch this space.
