4 new Picture Profiles for the FS100 2.0

The FS100 finally received the 2.0 firmware update, so it´s time for some new profiles.
My main goal was to get good looking skin tones at daylight. For other situations, play with the white balance till the skin tones are right and everything else should fall into place

For best results: Adjust your black levels to Zero (you can even go a hair below, as I have learned) for every single scene.

K-Tone 2.0

Based on the K-Ton warm, vintage, sweet home Alabama Kodachrome 25 look – here comes a new version.

Colordepth: R +2, G +6, B +5,C +5, M 0, Y +5
WB Shift: LB-CC, -8, -1

G-LOG A 2.1

G-Log B
This is a very special and more aggressive, almost gritty look.
It brings out every wrinkle in a face.

Black Level: 0 (set per scene)
Gamma: Cinematone 2
Black Gamma High, +7
Knee 105, 0
Color Mode: Cinematone2, +8
Color Level: -4
Colorphase: -1

WB Shift: RB, -9, +6
Detail: Level 3, Manual on, V/H 0, B/W, Type3, Limit 7, Chrispening 4, HL. Detail 0,

GlenColor 2.0

A look you can use, if you don´t want to fiddle too much post.

Black Level: (variable – start at 0 and adjust to your scene)
Gamma: Cinetone2
Black Gamma High +7
Knee: 105% and slope +5
Colormode: Cinematone2 +8
Color Level -2
Colorphase 0
Depth: R+4, G+7, B+7, C+7, M+4, Y+7
WB-Shift R-B, R-7, B0
Detail: Level 0, Manual ON, BWType3, Limit4, Chrispening5

I encourage everyone to take those profiles as a starting point and tweak them till they suit your taste.
Have fun playing with them.

  1. how do you adjust the black levels for each scene? Can you please explain? Thanks for all your work posting these PP. Great stuff

  2. Good job. Is these ones the newest ones?? Another question…did you note that the color temperature changes the latitude of the camera?? I think the camera have much more latitude in 3200k than in 5500k. I dont have the monitors, waveform, im just telling what the camera histogram shows to me. Thanks

  3. I was following your test on fs100 external recording and decided not to buy one. Today I found your post on abelcine blog:
“I figured out a new workflow that involves grading in linear color space.
That´s where the uncompressed BM material blows the AVCHD out of the water.”
    what did you found out?

  4. hey frank, i have a question. i am new in working with color profiles. i have purchased the EA50 wich features exactly the same picture profile parameters as the FS100. so i took the settings of your K-tone v2.0 profile but it looks totally different to them images that you have posted here. actually it looks dark and pale in my viewfinder. so here is my question: did you grade them images in post before you posted them here or did the images came out of the cam exactly like this? can you give me a few tips?

    cheers
    mark
