Today Blackmagic Design released the updated Version of the Pocket Cinema Camera. It comes with a larger Sensor, an EF mount and with 6K resolution.
The sensor is aS35 (23.10mm x 12.99) in size and sports a resolution of 6144 x 3456 pixels. The price is $2495 US and – the best thing – it’s available now!
The body and everything else is pretty much the same as in the 4K model, except the area around the mount is a bit bigger, to accommodate the EF Mount. Most functions are also the same, besides an on screen level and more languages. The camera talks to the most popular gimbals now, including start/stop focusing
Grand also mentioned, that the Pocket holds jamed timecode for about an hour. So if you shoot with 5 cameras, there is no need for 5 Tentacles. One does the trick, if you jam sync every other hour.
The next firmware update for both – the 4K and the 6K camera also features 16mm crop and anamorphic modes.
You can download some original 6K camera files here and here. But you need the newest version of Resolve to make them work.
